Searching for breastfeeding help and support in and around Louisville, Kentucky or Southern Indiana? Don’t worry about leaving your home, I will come to you for a private, in-home lactation consultation.
Take a moment to think about what your baby might say to you if he or she could talk. What would they need from you? What would they want? What we know from the research of babies across the globe is that they want you! The sound of your voice, your heartbeat, the smell of your skin, your body temperature, these things are what they have been hearing, feeling, seeing and smelling for the last 9 months in your belly. And this is what they want and need now that they are born. The touch of your skin when you have your baby heart to heart is what helps them to feel safe and secure. The smell and taste of your milk and the act of breastfeeding is what provides them with nourishment. While breastfeeding, your baby can look into your eyes and form a bond and know that you are their mother. Listen to your baby’s voice.
It is a magical and wonderful thing.
I began my interest in lactation as a student intern where I attended a breastfeeding class. After years of studying nutrition, I was intrigued by this first food (breast milk) and wondered why everyone wasn’t talking about it! Since then I have committed my career to families of childbearing years to promote, protect and support breastfeeding as normal infant feeding. With over 10 years of experience in nutrition, breastfeeding, and birth, I am a Registered Dietitian (RD), International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and a trained birth doula through DONA. I was born and raised in Tennessee, was a long-time resident of Kentucky, lived out my dream in New York City with my husband and most recently lived and worked in Glacier National Park in Montana and traveled the U.S. on the ultimate road trip. Currently, I am proud to be back in the Commonwealth of Kentucky helping moms and babies in and around Louisville and Southern Indiana. And most recently I have become a mother to Finley. He is our greatest adventure!
As a lactation consultant, I have been honored to provide breastfeeding help for many families to support them in reaching their breastfeeding goals. Call me to schedule an appointment, (270) 202-9545.
